caracter{\'{\i}}sticas superficiais do globo, incluindo os tipos
de solo e vegeta{\c{c}}{\~a}o. O objetivo deste trabalho {\'e}
estat{\'{\i}}stico din{\^a}mico (MED) e estudar os efeitos
clim{\'a}ticos do desmatamento da floresta amaz{\^o}nica. O MED,
dados do Large-scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia
(LBA) e da rean{\'a}lise do National Centers for Environmental
Prediction/National Center of Atmopheric Research (NCEP/NCAR). A
modelo simula bem a climatologia anual e sazonal (experimento
controle).
comparativamente {\`a}s latitudes m{\'e}dias.
cumultis no modelo.
radia{\c{c}}{\~a}o {\`a} superf{\'{\i}}cie com o aumento do
albedo.
sens{\'{\i}}vel e latente foi ent{\~a}o, alterada, resultando
h{\'{\i}}drica no solo.
A simula{\c{c}}{\~a}o do ciclo diurno m{\'e}dio mensal indicou
geral. ABSTRACT: Currently, many cfforts on climate modeling have
becn directed to the understanding of interactions between
atmospheric processes and earth surface features such as sou l and
vegetation. In this work, surface hydrology has been included in a
statistical dynamical model (SDM) in order to study the elimate
effects resulting from deforestation of Amazon forest. SllM,
coupled to the surface hydrology (based on
Biosphere-Atmosphere-Transfer Scheme, BATS), is validated with
data from Large-scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia
(LBA) and reanalysis data from National Centers for Environmental
Prediction/National Center of Atmospheric Research (NCEP/NCAR).
Comparison between SDM simulations and reanalysis data indicates
that, in this model, annual and seasonal climatologies (control
experiment) are well simulated as a whole. The annual average sou
l content is well estimated by SDM, although some overestimation
is found, mainly in the subtropical arcas. Runoff is better
simulated for tropical areas than for rnid-latitudes. Results from
control experiment for tropical area were compared to LBA data for
the forested area of Arnazon region. For the sensitivity
experiment, deforestation was simulated with the replacement of
Arnazon rain forest by degraded grassland vegetation and the
results were compared to those for pasture lands. A good agreement
vas observed between LBA data and model simulated results,
especially for the deforestation experiment. One of the major
differences was the small annual amplitude of the simulated
precipitation, which may be related to the lack of representation
of cumulus convection in the model. Concerning the climate impacts
due to deforestation, as albedo is increased, net radiation at
surface deereases. This new amount of radiation led to a new
energy partition between sensible and latent fluxes, resulting in
an enhancement of surface temperature. The latent heat flux was
reduced, which is also related to a decreasing surface roughness
and sou l moisture availability. Reduction on soil moisture and
runoff rates were identified as a result of decreased
precipitation rate. Increase and decrease of surface temperature
were obtained at daylight and night, respectively, for
deforestation experiment, as shown by data for deforested areas.
As a whole, the simulation of deforestation impact is in good
agreement with results from global circulation models.",
